Washing, Overhaul & Storage
Here at Sanders we offer dedicated services to help prolong the life of your sails. We take all makes of sails, along with all sail materials. During an average winter season, we will have over 2000 sails coming through the sail loft for either/or washing, overhaul, and storage.
Washing
Regular washing is an essential part of sail and canvas care. Salt, dirt, mildew, and UV exposure all contribute to premature wear, reduced performance, and unsightly staining. Clean sails not only look better, but also last longer, helping you get the best performance and value from your investment. At Sanders, we work with a dedicated, long-established sail laundry specialist to ensure your sails are cleaned thoroughly and safely. Using proven methods and carefully selected cleaning products, they treat common issues such as:
- General dirt and soiling
- Salt build-up
- Mildew and algae
- Rust or water staining
Sails can be dropped off directly at the Sanders Sail Loft, and we will handle all the arrangements for professional laundering and return.
We also offer laundry and repair services for canvas work including sprayhoods, stackpacks, sail covers, boat covers, and dodgers.
Laundry Pricing
Sail / Canvas ‘General’ Wash & Dry – £5.80 per kilo + VAT
Sail / Canvas ‘Intense’ MDR Wash & Dry – £11.50 per kilo + VAT
Canvas Re-Proofing – £8.00 per m² + VAT
(5 kilo minimum charge)

Overhaul
Even the best sails benefit from a professional check-up. At Sanders, our overhaul service gives you the confidence that your sails are in peak condition and ready for the season ahead. Once your sails have been washed, our experienced team will carry out a thorough inspection, looking closely at stitching, seams, corners, reinforcements, and fittings.
We provide a full report on the condition of your sail, highlighting any wear or damage, and advise on the best course of action. Where repairs are recommended, we liaise directly with you to ensure any work is carried out to your requirements. This proactive service can prevent small issues from turning into costly repairs, while extending the life and performance of your sails.
Storage
When the sailing season ends, proper storage is key to preserving your sails. After our Washed & Overhauled service, we offer secure winter storage in our temperature-controlled facility in Lymington.
Your sails are carefully folded, stored in dry, clean conditions, and kept safe until you need them again. This protects them from mildew, damp, and accidental damage, ensuring they’re in perfect condition when you next head out on the water.
