Salterns Sailing Club 24 Hour Sailathon for Children in Need
We were delighted to have a visit from the Junior Committee of Salterns Sailing Club yesterday as they collected some merchandise from us, including our new tees, beanies and caps.
This year marks the 25th 24hour Sailathon for Children in Need and they are very optimistic that they can get to their target of £200,000 raised over this time. You can donate to their justgiving page, listed below or come down to the club in Lymington from 4:30pm Friday 15th and cheer on these incredible sailors, while contributing to a fantastic cause.
Good luck and well done from all of us at Sanders.
Lymington Afloat Festival
‘Lymington Afloat’ is a festival starting between 14th September and 11th January. The festival celebrates 1,000 years of innovation centred on the Lymington River. At its heart is a major exhibtion in St Barbe Museum and Gallery.
Throughout history Lymington has been a major port on the south coast whether for building vessels for Edward 1st to defend the realm in the 13th; salt production and exportation; or Americas Cup racing. The yacht ‘Alarm’ built in Lymington in the 19th century raced the yacht ‘America’ around the Isle of Wight in 1851 in the first of the famous Americas Cup races. Lymington has developed into a centre of excellence for world renowned yacht design and construction, plus all the necessary supporting businesses. We have some of the early designers of sails for cargo boats. As these businesses have developed so Lymington has grown; the local sailing scene has attracted more and more people to the town. We have many round the world skippers, olympic gold and silver medallists, multiple youth world successes and much more. The exhibition in St Barbe will endeavour to bring this history to life.
To show our support for this exciting event we will be offering special discounts on all sail orders during the period of the event (please note that this does not include covers).

COVID-19: Doing Our Bit for Frontline Workers in Light of the COVID-19 Crisis #withlovex
Since the sudden outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) in 2020, we’ve dedicated a huge amount of our time and resources to supporting the efforts made by the NHS and other front line workers by making and supplying PPE equipment, such as scrub bags, scrubs, visors and sanitiser.
Donating to Our Local Food Bank
“Donation puts wind in food bank’s sails”
All charities, of any size, are incredibly important to so many vulnerable families – reaching out a hand to our local communities and sometimes the greater national population. One such charity, is that of the “New Forest Basics Bank”, located in Lymington, to help those in need despite a ‘break in’ last December.
This incident, albeit despicable, brought awareness to us of the incredible volunteers who are giving up their time and money to support the most vulnerable in the New Forest catchment. As a company we were shocked that there was such a high need for this help and we were desperate to pass on our support to this cause. You can read the article by Roz Waters on the link below.
